Praying in the Spirit

Is it possible to communicate with the heavenly angels. Can we talk to God? Is 'Praying in the Spirit' just an expression used by religious people?  Three good questions! Let's discuss the concept of Praying in the Spirit'. Religious teachers say this is the way to hear the voice of the Lord. If so, then how is it possible to 'pray in the spirit'?

Though there is little scriptural verse explaining how to pray this way, there are many passages telling us different ways to. One good story, and prehaps one of the best known, is the tale of Jesus walking on the water.
Mark 6:47-51

Late that night, the disciples were in their boat in the middle of the lake, and Jesus was alone on land. 48. He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o'clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He  49. but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. 50. They were all terrified when they saw him.
But Jesus spoke to them at once. "Don't be afraid," he said. "Take courage! I am here! 51. Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed

Mark 6:48. ...rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. Likewise, you also, in disbelief, may very will be rowing again the wind and waves.with the old philosophy of 'miracles are only in the bible'. Philosophies like that wear believers away from God. Verse 47, Jesus was alone, and  in number 48 it says that,  He intended to go past them. This is a typicality lifestyle result of the faithless leading the hopeful.  So, you sit in your own boat tossing about on life's waters. With questions like, "Why does God make tornadoes"? All the while, Jesus is there, but whether or not Jesus 'intends to go past' you, is a choose to make when believing in the possibility of a "Spirit Prayer'.

The Book of Matthew's (14: 28-29), give more information about Peter and his walking on water...

 Matthew 14: 28-29
Then Peter called to him, "Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water." 29. "Yes, come," Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.

The two above scriptures are the prelude to understanding 'Spirit Prayer'. First, you must need to communicate with the Lord, and second, you must have faith that this experience is possible.

Before explaining on just how to preform a 'Spirit Prayer ' the little verse of encouragement below is in order...
Romans 8: 5-6

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

So, how is it done! Every simple. First, be silent and relax your thoughts easing your mind towards the pure faith in the Lord. Quietly prepare a faithful heart. Now, try to pull all of your thoughts to the center of your personal well being, and just simply relax. When you're comfortable, pull your need to talk to Jesus forward as though you are actually moving your spirit forward towards Jesus. Then your 'courage' fell yourself taking a shallow spirit step towards the Jesus that is 'about to pass by'. Step out onto the water, have faith and courage. Breathe naturally. Now, call out to God. Call upon Jesus' name, and He will answer you. He is always there until you stop your faith and He passes on by. God will answer you because Jesus is near by.

The prophet Isaiah foretells the faithful to call on the Lord while he is there. If you need, Jesus is the one who will help. Do you need help? Say it to Him, 'Jesus, are you near."

Isaiah 55: 6
Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.
Romans 8:14-16
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father." 16. .For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children.
Matthew 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
What a blessing 'Praying in the Spirit' can be. Connecting, one-on-one, with both your inner faith in Jesus, as well as, your quiet devotion to try once again to live with the glory of God. The 'Spirit Prayer' has been apart of the most ancient of nations for thousands of years. The evidence of it has been scattered across mountains, hills, and valleys as the lost, ancient artifacts  new being new discovered. Join in with this profound wonder of a Living God.

It is through Your love that the children again and again see You on the water. And time and again, with a sad heart, they watch as You pass by. Call on us until we understand and try again to be near You. Thank you for this way to share Your heavens, we see the clouds are the rain for the sea You walk upon. Step now towards the boat because we are coming over the side to speak with you. Amen.
.... So that, if a man only abstains from doing evil in order to avoid punishment, Non pasces in cruce corvos, [Thou shalt not be hanged.], saith the Pagan; there, "thou hast thy reward." But even he will not allow such a harmless man as this to be so much as a good heathen. If, then, any man, from the same motive, viz., to avoid punishment, to avoid the loss of his friends, or his gain, or his reputation, should not only abstain from doing evil, but also do ever so much good; yea, and use all the means of grace; yet we could not with any propriety say, this man is even almost a Christian. If he has no better principle in his heart, he is only a hypocrite altogether.
